Shoulder Steak

A delicious meat recipe that is elegant, savory, and easy. Can be used on shoulder steak , pepper steak, or minute steak. Serve alongside scoops of mashed potato for a sophisticated dish. Adapted from Gluten Free Goes Gourmet by Vicky Pearl.

Ingredients

1/4 cup oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
3 large onions, circle-sliced thinly
1 lb shoulder steak
1 cup semi-dry red wine
1 bay leaf
1 teaspoon salt 
1/2 teaspoon dried minced garlic
1/4 teaspoon dried rosemary leaves
1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Directions

  • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and brown for about one minute. Add onion slices; saute for 5 minutes, until translucent.
  • Place steak in pan. Pour wine over meat, add bay leaf and spices. Cover pan, increase heat to high and bring to a boil.
  • Lower heat to medium. Cook for 2 - 2 1/2 hours or until meat is tender. Remove bay leaf before serving.
Freezes well
